Betta is a large genus of small, often colorful, freshwater ray-finned fishes in the gourami family (Osphronemidae). By far the best known Betta species, however, is Betta splendens (the Siamese fighting fish). With their vibrant colors and long, flowing tails, betta splendens are thought by many to be some of the nicest looking freshwater fish around. It is often said that betta fish require very little relative to other fish in order to survive and thrive; whereas most fish may require elaborate setups with filters, skimmers, heaters and more, the betta is fine in a small bowl without any equipment. Allow it to sit and “age” for at least a week;
Choose an appropriate number of small river fish; and
Do routine maintenance regularly, instead of waiting for something to go wrong.

The goldfish (Carassius auratus) is a freshwater fish in the family Cyprinidae of order Cypriniformes. It was one of the earliest fish to be domesticated, and is one of the most commonly kept aquarium fish. A relatively small member of the carp family (which also includes the koi carp and the crucian carp), the goldfish is a domesticated version of a less-colorful carp (Carassius auratus) native to East Asia. Goldfish breeds vary greatly in size, body shape, fin configuration and coloration (various combinations of white, yellow, orange, red, brown, and black are known).
The mutation that gave rise to the domestic goldfish is also known from other cyprinid species, such as common carp and Tench (doctor fish).
