Rottweiler - A Natural Guard Dog!

Rottweiler - A Natural Guard Dog!

The Rottweiler is strong and true with a loving heart. Affectionately called Rotties or Rotts, the breed was used to drive cattle and pull carts for farmers and butchers. That heritage is reflected in the Rottie's broad chest and heavily muscled body. When he moves, he displays strength and stamina, but when you look into his eyes you see warm, dark-brown pools reflecting a mellow, intelligent, alert, and fearless expression. A well-bred Rottweiler is calm and confident. He's typically aloof toward strangers, but never timid or fearful. Rottweilers exhibit a "wait-and-see" attitude when confronted with new people and situations. When these characteristics come together as they should, the Rottweiler is a natural guard dog with a mellow disposition who is successful not only in police, military, and customs work, but also as a family friend and protector.

Behavioral traits:
Well-bred Rotties can be a joy to live with and are never aggressive toward strangers, no matter how wary they may be. Indiscriminate breeding of this popular dog, however, has caused many Rotties to be born with unstable blood lines.

Persian cats are literally the glamour pusses of the feline world. As kittens, they are adorable balls of fluff that seem to almost get lost in all that long fur. As adult cats, they have a regal, slightly snobbish look. However, their personality is anything but uppity. Persian cats are loving and loyal companions that bond strongly with their owners.

Behavioral Traits:
Persians are creatures of habit. They thrive in a stable, secure living environment and are not particularly fond of sudden changes. With gentle and consistent reassurance, they can adapt to boisterous households. Most Persians are meticulous self-groomers. However, they still need their owner's help to maintain their glorious coats, which can be quite a challenge.

The hyacinth macaw is possibly the most stunning of the macaw family, and is certainly the largest. It is the largest of all parrots. The hyacinth is the “Great Dane” of companion birds, with the mature male reaching over 40 inches in length. Very few people actually have a hyacinth macaw as a companion, and will probably only has the pleasure of seeing one in a zoo or a larger bird shop. Despite its size, penchant for destruction, loudness and expense, this blue macaw is the penultimate companion bird for the person who has the time, patience and wallet to properly keep this beautiful beast. The hyacinth macaw is a stunning cobalt color all over its body, with a ring of bright yellow around its eye and the same color yellow at the base and the corners of its beak. It is often referred to simply as a “blue macaw.” The hyacinth is not twice as large as other large macaws, though its big personality makes other macaws seem like dwarves in its presence.

Pugs often are described as a lot of dog in a small space. These sturdy are known as the clowns of the canine world because they have a great sense of humor and like to show off. Originally bred to be a lap dog, the Pug thrives on human companionship.

Behavioral Traits:
Some Pugs have a tendency to make noise, whether barking, yapping, snorting, grunting or otherwise. Owners can discourage excessive “yappiness” with early training, and some Pugs actually make excellent watch dogs, so long as they are trained properly about when barking is appropriate. Pugs love food, and begging can easily get out of hand if family members are in the habit of feeding their dog from the table or offering scraps from plates. It is important that owners only offer treats after the dog performs a specified action, like sitting.
