Having a pet can be one of the greatest blessings for people of any age. Pets often become more like friends to the people who own them. They provide hours of entertainment and fun during the best times in life and they provide comfort and companionship during life's hardest seasons. Many people choose to make a dog their pet of choice. When owners practice good dog care, dogs can be some of the cleanest and greatest pets on the earth. Not all dog owners, however, are experienced in good dog care.

Proper dog care is important for all dogs. If you are going to keep a dog as your personal pet then you had better do what it takes to take good care of your dog. There is only one reason for all of the neglected dogs that live in many homes around the world: selfishness. When dog owners are selfish with their time, energy, and affections, good dog care practices fly out the window and dogs are left without owners who really care for them.

Does your dog have urinary accidents in the house?
Or perhaps he pesters to go out, more than he used to?
Both of these are hints your dog needs to pee more, probably because he’s drinking more water. Sometimes it’s easier to spot these clues than it is to monitor the water bowl, especially if you have several dogs all sharing the same facilities.

If your dog is drinking more, should you be worried?
Yes and no.

There are times when thirst is normal and healthy. These are:

  • A change of diet from wet to dry food
  • Hot weather
  • Food and Water

For example, water makes up to 75% of the ingredients in canned dog food. Whereas in dry dog kibble this is more like 6 – 10%. Change from canned dinners to dry kibble and your dog needs to drink more in order to re-hydrate the food in his stomach and replace the missing water.

If you have a dog, then you are already familiar with the art of dog grooming. If you are just considering a new pet, there is plenty to think about and this includes their appearance. Some dogs are easier to care for than others, including ones with shorter hair. A dog with long hair requires daily brushing and sheds constantly, which can make for a long day of vacuuming. The Rottweiler is strong and true with a loving heart. Affectionately called Rotties or Rotts, the breed was used to drive cattle and pull carts for farmers and butchers. That heritage is reflected in the Rottie's broad chest and heavily muscled body. When he moves, he displays strength and stamina, but when you look into his eyes you see warm, dark-brown pools reflecting a mellow, intelligent, alert, and fearless expression. A well-bred Rottweiler is calm and confident. He's typically aloof toward strangers, but never timid or fearful. Rottweilers exhibit a "wait-and-see" attitude when confronted with new people and situations. When these characteristics come together as they should, the Rottweiler is a natural guard dog with a mellow disposition who is successful not only in police, military, and customs work, but also as a family friend and protector.

Behavioral traits:
Well-bred Rotties can be a joy to live with and are never aggressive toward strangers, no matter how wary they may be. Indiscriminate breeding of this popular dog, however, has caused many Rotties to be born with unstable blood lines.
